Cybersecurity:  Diligence is Needed for an Evolving Threat Landscape

This session will provide you with current information on cybersecurity breaches in the health care industry, and enable you to understand how these incidents can impact patient safety, organizational reputation, and result in lawsuits, penalties and regulatory non-compliance.  In addition, this session will examine key aspects of a Cybersecurity Program that includes straightforward steps you can use to reduce your risks and ensure an effective response to a breach, if needed.   In this session:

  • Learn about the evolving types and extent of threats 
  • Recognize the significant impacts of these incidents to your organization
  • Understand the key steps to prevent, detect  and respond to security breaches

Bill has over twenty years of experience in developing and implementing information technology (IT) solutions for healthcare institutions.

Bill’s expertise in supporting healthcare clients includes – the design and implementation of comprehensive voice and data network infrastructures, cybersecurity, strategic planning, contract negotiations, assessments and implementations for clinical/financial/ancillary systems, and interim CIO.

Prior to joining Mazars, Bill’s professional career includes Practice Leader for Visalign, Senior Manager at Hamilton HMC, and Director of Infrastructure for New York City’s Beth Israel Medical Center.

Bill received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree (BSEE) from Columbia University. He is a longstanding member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Jenna Barsky has a background in healthcare management and policy.  She excels as a project manager, aligning financial, quality, and service goals with information technology initiatives.

Jenna has extensive knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and incentive programs, with which she has assisted hospitals and physician practices to attain significant payments and avoid financial penalties. She has project managed Meaningful Use, Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), and Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) initiatives. Jenna also has experience preparing providers for the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization ACT (MACRA) through readiness assessments and strategic planning endeavors.

She has successfully project managed information technology system selections and strategic planning initiatives involving a wide range of systems, including financial and clinical, in both inpatient and ambulatory environments. She has significant experience developing and analyzing system functional requirements and proposals, as well as performing cost normalizations.

Jenna also has experience in information technology implementation, process improvement, and data and workflow analysis.  She consistently helps administrators, physicians and clinical staff to establish critical success factors for implementing strategic initiatives, enhancing provider workflow, and eliminating waste. 

Prior to joining WeiserMazars, Jenna was at Smart Solutions for Health Care and Kennedy Health System.  Jenna received her Master’s in Public Health: Healthcare Management and Policy from Columbia University.
