OVERVIEW

One of the major transactions CPA clients enter into is a purchase or disposition of a business. To help tax professionals in advising those clients, this course offers a comprehensive analysis of the business and tax aspects of buying and selling a business. It is a practical guide to help practitioners and industry CPAs understand structuring techniques. All CPAs, including controllers and executives in industry, should understand how difficult the process of buying and selling a business has become.

Maury B. Reiter is a shareholder and managing principal in the regional law firm of Kaplin Stewart Meloff Reiter & Stein, P.C. He is chairman of the firm’s tax and estate department, and member of its corporate and real estate departments. He counsels individuals, professional service organizations, real estate developers, and regional, national, and international businesses, serving them through his extensive expertise in federal taxation, estate planning, acquisitions and sales of business, real estate transactions, general commercial and contract matters, and preparation of agreements among business owners. Mr. Reiter lectures extensively on various topics. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Upon graduating from Temple University Law School, Mr. Reiter attended New York University Law School, where he earned his LL.M. degree in taxation.
