Howard J. Bookbinder, CPA, practices in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and is a former instructor of accounting and taxation at Rutgers University. Additionally, he frequently lectures on federal tax updates, payroll tax issues, ethics and Circular 230. Mr. Bookbinder has addressed many professional, civic and community groups in New Jersey, Ohio, New York, Alabama and Georgia, including the American Society of Women Accountants, Mended Hearts, Bergen County Bar Association, Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, AARP, The Telephone Pioneers and NCCPAP. He has also lectured to firms on an in-house basis in the area of professional ethics and taxation. Mr. Bookbinder is a frequent lecturer at many tax seminars sponsored by the New Jersey Society of CPAs, the AICPA, Kean University, Rowan University and the Internal Revenue Service. He served as chairman of the Cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service for four years and is a current member of the New Jersey State Tax Committee. He has been involved with the Internal Revenue Service symposiums for IRS employees and tax practitioners for the past several years. He is a past president of the Bergen Chapter of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and a past trustee of the New Jersey Society of CPAs. He is a contributing author for the Bergen Record’s Tax Mailbag column, and has appeared on the cable TV program of the same name. Mr. Bookbinder is the author of Write-up Services for Small Businesses, a book published by the AICPA. Mr. Bookbinder is a graduate of Pace University and has attended the American Institute of Banking.

Glenn has worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 33 years. He began in Taxpayer Service in 1989 as a Taxpayer Service Specialist answering account and tax law questions on the IRS’s toll-free phone line until becoming a Revenue Agent in 1994. During his 11 years as an Agent, Glenn worked in the Examination Problem Resolution Unit as a caseworker, a cooperating Agent for Criminal Investigations and was a Taxpayer Advocate at the model walk-in office in Edison. Glenn is also a certified instructor for the IRS and has spent four years training the new incoming Revenue Agents from 2001 to 2005.

Additionally, Glenn worked in the former Taxpayer Education & Communication division during its stand-up in 2001 before it was eventually realigned into Communications & Liaison. His current assignments include the Annual Federal State Tax Workshops, North & South Jersey Working Together, AARP, multilingual associations, school districts and the underserved community.

Kenneth A. Horowitz entered the life insurance business in 1989 after a short career in the commercial real estate finance business with a leading NYC based commercial bank. He became affiliated with The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, New York, NY as a Field Representative with the Compain Anderson Group and went on to qualify for the company’s prestigious Awards Club for many years.

After merging with another NYC based Guardian agency in 2000, Strategies for Wealth, Ken’s services grew more comprehensive by providing clients a distinct financial planning process. His commitment to the financial services business is exemplified by qualifying as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), as well as becoming a Registered Representative (Series 7) and IAR (Investment Advisor Representative) of Park Avenue Securities, Guardian's broker-dealer and investment advisor arm.

Through Ken’s specialty in the area of disability income planning, he wrote an article on tax issues and the benefits of qualified sick pay plans entitled “Tax Trap” published in the September 1999 issue of the Journal of Accountancy, which has been reprinted in various legal periodicals.

In 2007, Ken created an alliance with Integrity Advisors Pension Consultants Inc., a 50 year old pension consulting firm, based in Rye Brook, New York. Their team of actuaries design and implement profit sharing and pension plans for small to medium size business owners. Providing seminars to the CPA community and their knowledge of pension legislation has allowed Integrity Advisors to create a niche in this segment of financial services. Ken recently authored two articles in the May and November 2011 issue of Advisor Today on the new tax benefits of qualified retirement plans to business owners resulting from the Pension Protection Act ’06. The second article discusses the enhanced protection and income benefits of variable annuity contracts.

In 2010, Ken took over the stewardship of another long time established Westchester based pension and financial services firm, National Pension Consultants II. Since this merger, Ken created Integrated Benefit Consultants.

Ken received his MBA from Hofstra University. He has always given his time to help various charitable and local organizations. Some of his affiliations include: Head of the NJ Chapter of Hofstra University Alumni Association; Executive Board Member of Albert Einstein College of Medicine; Penn State Parents Association; Y-JCC of Bergen County; The Loomis-Chafee Alumni Association; and member and coach of the Woodcliff Lake Basketball Association.

Ken is licensed to conduct insurance and investment business in several states across the country.

Parag is a tax attorney with the Patel Law Offices in Iselin. His practice concentration is in tax, business transactions and estate planning. He is a board certified estate planning law specialist, a board certified elder law attorney, and a frequent speaker on legal issues affecting tax, offshore tax planning and estate planning. Parag was named a New Jersey Super Lawyer by New Jersey Magazine for tax and estate planning. He has also received an AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating System, which is the highest professional rating possible among lawyers. He is the 2011/12 chairman of the Tax Law Committee of American Bar Association’s GP Solo and Small Firm Division. Parag also serves as a part-time municipal court judge for Edison Township. He is a member of the New Jersey State, New York State, Middlesex County and American Bar Associations.
