NJCPA Takes 2020 Learning Virtual

Safety is the highest priority in the decisions that the NJCPA has made and continues to make about education attendees, staff, sponsors, vendors and speakers. At the onset of the COVID-19 crisis and the related restrictions placed on large gatherings, we were well positioned to adapt and quickly moved spring and summer conferences and seminars to web-based learning events, and we greatly expanded our web interface with our vendor alliance partners.

Out of concern for all involved, we have made the decision to shift all education events through Dec. 31, 2020, to the web. Gathering people face-to-face for live training is going to be challenging for the near future, but we would like this to be viewed simply as a “temporary pause.” We firmly believe that in-person education, networking and events will return though the timetable for this to “re-start” is uncertain. In the meantime, hundreds of online CPE options are available.

To supplement the launch of Membership+ and help fill the void left by the temporary suspension of in-person chapter programming, we are  developing a statewide Virtual Season Pass for 2020/21. The pass will be eight, three-hour programs — a total of 24 CPE credits — on a variety of topics, and we are currently working with chapter leaders on topic and speaker suggestions. The pass will be available for purchase during the summer with programming beginning in September. Chapter season passes unfortunately cannot be offered during fiscal 2020/21.

Remember, NJCPA members now have access to a new benefit of 20 free CPE credits for specific web-based courses. Now through May 31, 2021, Membership+ offers a broad mix of online, one- to two-credit courses covering essential topics in accounting, business and technology.
