NJCPA Members Approve Bylaws Changes

Eligible NJCPA members were recently invited to participate in a bylaws vote affecting membership categories and the professional conduct suspension/termination process. The vote, conducted by the third-party vendor AssociationVoting from Oct. 18 to Nov. 1, resulted in 1,546 member votes, 14.1 percent of eligible voters. The adoption of the four proposed amendments required an affirmative vote of the majority of votes cast. The voting broke down as follows:
Merge the CPA Candidate and Associate membership classes into a new membership class named Affiliate
- Yes – 79.17%
- No – 19.14%
- Abstain – 1.68%
Update the definition of the Student member class
- Yes – 85.12%
- No – 13.00%
- Abstain – 1.87%
Rename the Fellow member class to CPA member
- Yes – 80.01%
- No – 16.75%
- Abstain – 3.23%
Modify certain professional conduct approval processes
- Yes – 62.74%
- No – 30.78%
- Abstain – 6.46%
