NJCPA Submits College Affordability Recommendations to U.S. Department of Education

Recognizing the barriers created by skyrocketing higher education costs, the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council (ELC) has worked over the years on several initiatives to make college more affordable.
On Feb. 9, the ELC’s Task Force on College Affordability submitted recommendations to the U.S. Department of Education regarding the development of criteria to use for evaluating the financial value of higher education programs.
After reviewing the recommendations it receives from interested parties and finalizing the criteria, the department will publish a list of programs at all types of colleges and universities that provide the least financial value to students. Institutions with programs on this list will be asked to submit improvement plans to the department to improve their financial value.
