New Jersey Approves CPA Exam Window Extension

On April 21, 2023, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) Board of Directors voted to adopt an amendment to the Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA) Model Rules to increase the length of conditional credit for the CPA Exam from 18 months to 30 months. This means that CPA candidates now have 30 months from the date they pass their first section of the Exam to pass the other three parts.

Each state board of accountancy needs to adopt the change in order for it to be effective in their state.

Today, the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy agreed to approve the extension. Since a change in the state regulations is required and that takes time, this approval is on an interim basis. The change applies to students who have already taken one or more parts of the Exam as well as future Exam takers.
