7 CPE Credits in TX

OVERVIEW

This session will cover the changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). Jeff Jacobs will provide his insightful perspective on the tax law changes as well as his insights on current topics and issues. There is much to cover this year!

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was the most sweeping tax reform measure in more than 30 years. As a result of the new law and numerous IRS regulations, you need to know the impact of the TCJA on your clients - and on your practice. This year's seminar will cover all of the important details in order to advise clients how they will be affected by this massive tax act. As always, the details will all be explained in plain English, with many examples to make it understandable. The program will focus on everything from the new tax rates and brackets to the hard-to-understand 20% deduction for qualified business income.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 was an incredibly extensive piece of tax reform legislation, completely changing how tax advisers will advise their clients – and will prepare returns – for 2018. Even as the IRS continues to issue regulatory guidance on the new law, this year's seminar will update you on the most important compliance and planning issues, including answers to:

  • Which state and local taxes can still be deducted? And by whom?
  • Who will be eligible for the 20% qualified business interest deduction under sec. 199A? And how is it computed?
  • To what extent will businesses be able to take advantage of 100% bonus depreciation? And what happens to qualified improvement property?
  • How will your clients be affected by changes on the deductibility of qualified residence interest? And on miscellaneous itemized deductions?
  • What do you have to know about tax accounting? And who can go from the accrual method to cash?
  • What can your clients still do now about divorce alimony? And about estate planning?
  • What are the latest changes from the IRS about student loan repayments and moving expenses?
