Peter’s industry-specific expertise has allowed him the ability to provide transformational leadership to hospitals, healthcare practices, and nursing homes by paving the way for sustainable changes impacting operations, profitability and revenue retention. His level of guidance and insight has made significant differences for healthcare organizations dealing with sky-rocketing healthcare costs.

Peter assists his clients with Revenue Cycle transformation, coding and documentation assessments, ICD-10 assessment and implementation, clinical education strategy and improvement planning development, charge capture with Charge Description Master Support, and regulatory compliance matters. His industry experience covers Inpatient Acute, Post-Acute (SNF, LTACH), Outpatient Hospital and Free-Standing Diagnostic Centers, and Physician Practice in all settings.

He also has significant experience developing workflow process redesign, dashboards and policy and procedures that conform with all federal and state regulatory statues.

Peter has deep knowledge around DRG, APR-DRG, APC and APG payment systems, RAC, CDI, ICD-10 and CDM to assist in the performance of revenue cycle, charge capture initiatives, denial reviews to identify root causes necessary to develop intensified protocols to prevent reoccurrence.

Valerie Ostrander, CPC is Manager of the Healthcare Advisory Group at Mazars USA LLP. For over 20 years, Valerie has worked with various types of providers ranging from smaller community hospitals to large, nationally recognized, multi-facility hospital systems, County-owned facilities, Academic Medical centers and Physician Medical Groups specializing in revenue cycle strategy, managed care contracting, A/R reduction, denial management, underpayment identification and recovery, pharmaceutical reimbursement, business office redesign and workflow efficiency implementation.

Valerie began her career in industry, working in the patient financial office of a local hospital. Utilizing her unique skill set as a Certified Coder with revenue cycle experience, she conducts analysis of managed care contract terms, conditions, codes and rates to identify financial and operational areas of opportunity to maximize facility and provider reimbursement (i.e. underpayment analysis, billing errors, etc.). This industry-specific experience combined with financial knowledge allows her to provide strategic guidance to providers to implement changes that result in revenue cycle process efficiencies, profitable contracts and sustained revenue growth, as well developing and sustaining strong relationships with C-Suite executives and Revenue Cycle staff.

Valerie received a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She is a native of upstate New York and currently resides in Charlotte, NC with her husband, Jeff and their daughter, Emily.

Michael is a seasoned financial advisor, with years of experience planning for typical families and families with children with special needs.

Michael received his MBA from New York University and received his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from SUNY Albany.

Michael began his professional career as an accounting professional at Deloitte & Touche and BDO Seidman. Subsequently, he became an Adjunct Professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College in the Mathematics and Business departments while pursuing an MBA at New York University. Upon graduating, Michael became Partner at Let’s Talk Business Network. In this role, Michael facilitated peer leadership groups for entrepreneurs. He gained a thorough understanding of his client’s concerns, provided council and connected them to resources. In addition, he designed and led the expansion of the business into additional markets.
