Most companies manage their income statement, but many organizations virtually ignore the balance sheet until balance sheet problems create seemingly insurmountable problems. This session discusses how to analyze and manage your financial statements more holistically allowing you to identify and correct balance sheet issues early. The session will also examine several crucial ideas you can incorporate into your analyses to enhance performance and reduce risk. Every organization needs these skills!

3B. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: Practical Compliance (AA)

Since 1977 the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) has haunted United States Corporations. With the SEC and DOJ handing out fines and sanctions against companies, it is a bad idea to be on the wrong side of this law as the penalties and impact to business as usual will be severely disrupted. This session will help you understand how this law actually affects doing business overseas. The two main provisions involve accounting transparency bribing foreign officials. Understand the practical steps you need to take to prevent a conflict with the new FCPA Corporate Enforcement policy. Charles Silvey, CPA, is a Chief Audit Executive with over 25 years of experience specializing in, internal audit, finance operations, internal controls, COSO, FCPA Compliance and Sarbanes‐Oxley implementation. His professional experience includes roles at KPMG, CR Bard, Lucent Technologies, ADP and Catalent Pharma Solutions. Most recently, he was Vice President of Internal Audit for a $3B pharmaceutical company. Charles lives in Hamden, CT.
