The NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council is partnering with Junior Achievement for a volunteer opportunity at their capstone program, JA BizTown. JA BizTown is a no-cost, hands-on learning program that helps students meet standards. For fifth and sixth graders, this business management curriculum culminates in a trip to JA BizTown, a volunteer-assisted simulated community where students run businesses, earn paychecks and create a successful economy.
HIGHLIGHTS
Volunteer in one of the 14 businesses in JA BizTown, assisting students with their business/job tasks throughout the day, while sharing personal stories of work experience.
Volunteers will:
- Assist students as they role play jobs such as an Investors Bank teller, Horizon CFO, Mayor, Quest Diagnostics technician, UPS CEO, MetLife claims adjuster, radio host, and Phillips 66 refining engineer
- Encourage leadership, problem solving, collaboration & communication skills
- Inspire students to start planning for college and careers

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Volunteers receive a 1.5 hour training session on the morning of their volunteer day led by JA staff. The training reviews the simulation, volunteer and student roles and provides helpful tips for creating a successful day.
Lunch and materials will be provided.
