OVERVIEW

HIGHLIGHTS

Ed Mendlowitz from Withum will be presenting two topics.

Employee benefit plans for small business clients:

Ed will provide an overview of many nontraditional benefit plans small business clients can provide to employees along with the tax issues for each plan. Covered will be bonus and incentive payment arrangements with current and deferred payments, stock options, restricted stock, phantom stock and cash value life insurance policies. Also covered will be stock valuation issues and safe harbor SIMPLE plans and solo 401(k)s. Section 83(b) elections and 409A withholding taxes will also be covered.

In second hour of the meeting, Ed will be discussing tax changes, planning and compliance opportunities to individual and business clients

He will cover how remote client engagement has changed the way CPAs can interact with clients and it has eliminated many of the subtleties that occur during personal interactions. This program will show ways to present and discuss tax issues and changes that affect clients, and ways to project future tax and complicated tax issues and the need for greater compliance in many areas that have traditionally fallen through the cracks. Many specific illustrations will be provided. These techniques can be carried forward to all future interactions whatever the format.
