Three NJCPA-Supported Bills Pass Legislative Committees

Three bills supported by the New Jersey Society of CPAs passed legislative committees on Sept. 13.

  • A935 updates the New Jersey Accountancy Act to permit firm mobility and CPE reciprocity and makes other changes to conform with the Uniform Accountancy Act. This bill will modernize the accountancy act, which hasn’t been updated in 20 years. Read More
  • S2265 would provide for IRC section 1202 capital gains tax breaks on a state level to promote investment in startup companies. This bill was drafted by NJCPA member Shaune Scutellaro and is a stimulus for economic growth. Read More
  • A2810 provides liability protection to New Jersey State Board of Accountancy members so they are not personally liable for actions taken by the board. Without this protection, experienced board members may decide to resign and qualified candidates may decline to serve on the board. Read More
