New Jersey Society of CPAs CEO Ralph Albert Thomas Receives NJBIZ 2018 ICON Honors Award

ROSELAND, N.J. – Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and executive director of New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA), was awarded an NJBIZ 2018 ICON Honors award, which recognizes New Jersey business leaders over the age of 60 for their notable success and demonstration of strong leadership.

Now in its second year, the NJBIZ ICON Award is given to individuals who inspire, innovate and create across a range of industries. The award ceremony took place today at The Palace at Somerset Park.

“We are extremely proud of Ralph. He continues to surpass expectations of commitment to the NJCPA, its members and the business community,” said Ellen McSherry, chief operating officer, NJCPA. “We are delighted that he is recognized for his dedication on so many levels.”  

For nearly 20 years, Ralph has been CEO and executive director of NJCPA. Previously, he was a vice president and region audit head for Citibank and held various accounting positions at AT&T, Potomac Electric Power Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has extensive leadership experience on accounting industry boards and committees, including those of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. He is a member of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone Initiative and was appointed to the Chamber Board of Directors. Ralph is also the treasurer of Opportunity NJ. In January 2018, he was invited by Senate President Steve Sweeney to join its bipartisan Economic and Fiscal Policy Working Group comprised of a variety of economists and policy experts.
