Peer Review FAQs

  • Can I have an extension of my due date?
    All reviews are expected to be completed on time. However, if unforeseen circumstances arise, you can request an extension of up to three months. You will need to submit a written request before your firm’s due date. The request will be reviewed, and you will be notified of the decision.
  • Who chooses the reviewer?
    You/your firm chooses the reviewer. If you need assistance in finding a peer reviewer, you can use our “Firms Interested in Performing Peer Reviews Directory.”
  • When is my review due and when will I be notified?
    Your review is due six months after your peer review period. As an example, if your peer review period is 4/1/2014 through 3/31/2015, your review is due 9/30/2015. You will receive notification from the NJCPA to complete an “Information Required for Scheduling a Peer Review” form 6 months prior to your review due date. Peer reviews are completed once every three years.
