Women in New Jersey’s Accounting Profession: Looking Back and Ahead

April 9, 2022, marks the 110th anniversary of the NJCPA’s first female member, Dora Roworth. To help commemorate her groundbreaking achievements, we talked with five female NJCPA members about what drove them to become CPAs, the role that women play in the accounting profession and the messages they have for the next generation. Featuring: Evelyn McDowell, CPA, associate professor at Rider University; Kathy Powers, CPA, CFO at Matheny Medical and Educational Center and the president-elect of the NJCPA; Sofia Cordero, CPA, senior manager at Mazars; Twinkle Tailor, CPA, director of financial planning and analysis at Prudential; and Doris Vazacopoulos, accounting student at Stevens Institute of Technology.
