NJCPA Announces Merger of Middlesex/Somerset and Mercer Chapters

The New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJCPA) is pleased to announce the merger of its Middlesex/Somerset and Mercer chapters, effective June 1. The newly formed Central Jersey Chapter will enhance operational efficiencies and eliminate duplication of efforts while continuing to deliver high-quality programming and networking opportunities for members.

The decision to merge was made to better serve NJCPA members by combining resources, strengthening regional engagement and ensuring a sustainable chapter model for the future. All current Middlesex/Somerset and Mercer chapter members will automatically be assigned to the Central Jersey Chapter on June 1.

“We are very excited for the merger with the Mercer Chapter to form the new Central Jersey Chapter,” said Samuel E. Schneider, CPA, president of the Middlesex/Somerset Chapter. "We've had the opportunity to meet with their leadership, and it is clear that we share the same goals and vision — to ultimately provide value to our members. We look forward to sharing success stories and best practices to enhance the member experience.”

Peter J. Belthoff, CPA, president of the Mercer Chapter, echoed that sentiment, adding, “This merger is a great opportunity to expand our reach and better serve our members. By joining forces, we will be able to offer more events, enhance professional development and build a stronger, more engaged community for accounting professionals in our region.”

“I applaud the presidents and board members of both chapters for their leadership,” said John Szczomak, CPA, 2025/26 president of the NJCPA. “They recognized the opportunity to join forces to ensure that NJCPA members continue to receive valuable education and networking opportunities in a more efficient and effective way.”
