Laura M. Crowley, CPA, MBA., is a manager at Citrin Cooperman and specializes in audit, accounting and advisory services for the financial services, hospitality, employee benefit and manufacturing industries.

Laura is known for her leadership and dedication to a variety of causes, including the Girl Scouts of New Jersey. In this capacity, she is a national winner of prestigious awards including the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey – Dedicated Leader Award, the Volunteer of Excellence Award, the Appreciation pin and the President’s Award for her service unit team. In addition, she is a Gold Award advisor for two girls. At the NJCPA, she is a member of numerous committees, including Accounting & Auditing, the International Accounting Standards Work Group, FASB Accounting Standards Work Group, and the Nonprofit Interest Group. In addition, she was a 2016 “Women of Note” Honoree.

Steven Friedman

Steven J. Friedman advises employers on a variety of aspects of employee benefits law including:
  • The structuring and implementation of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans
  • Welfare and fringe benefits programs
  • Early retirement programs
  • Severance plans
He also has extensive experience counseling employers on Employee Retirement Income Security Act and tax compliance issues related to employee benefits plans, dealing with the governmental agencies that regulate such plans and construing employee benefits laws, such as the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Additionally, Mr. Friedman advises clients on the manner in which employee benefit plans may be terminiated, modified or restructured and has proficiency in plan conversion issues.

Mr. Friedman has broad experience dealing with the legal, financial and administrative issues arising under executive compensation arrangements, including:
  • Deferred compensation
  • Supplemental executive retirement arrangements
  • Stock-related compensation
  • Stock appreciation rights
  • Phantom stock plans
  • Stock option plans
He also analyzes issues related to section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code. His expertise extends to employee benefits issues in connection with corporate transactions. A regular commentator to governmental agencies on pending legislation, he has also appeared on television and has been quoted in many national legal and business publications on employee benefits topics.

Prior to joining Littler Mendelson, Mr. Friedman spent nearly 10 years as benefits counsel for a major multinational electronics and entertainment company. He also worked as an adjunct professor at Baruch College where he taught a tax course on employee benefits in 2008. He earned his J.D. from Boston University and LL.M. from New York University School of Law.

John Raspante

John F. Raspante formally worked for North American Professional Liability Insurance Agency (“NAPLIA”) as SVP / Director of Risk Management. Prior to NAPLIA, John was the Director of Compliance and Risk Management as well as the Director of Education for Graf Repetti & Co. LLP, Certified Public Accountants & Business Advisors. John also worked nine years for CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company, of which he was responsible for providing loss prevention services to the organization’s largest insured’s.

John earned a BBA in accounting from Baruch College (CUNY) and a master’s degree in tax from Washington School of Law. He also holds the designation Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and multiple state accounting societies. He also serves on NYSSCPA’s Compilation and Review Committee, NJSCPA’s Editorial Board and the Accounting and Auditing interest group, and the National Conference of CPAs’ Ethics Committee. John is an in-demand speaker and has written several articles for the accounting profession on issues relating to risk management and professional ethics.

John’s responsibilities at CPA Protector Plan will include assisting insured's in minimizing professional liability exposures and claims mitigation by implementing a world class Risk Management Program, State Society and Association Endorsements and increasing gross written premium.

June M. Toth, CPA, CFF, CITP is the managing member of ZBT Certified Public Accounting & Consulting, LLC in Clark, NJ. June has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. Services she performs include forensic and litigation engagements for contested estates, shareholder disputes, preparation of economic damage reports, and expert witness testimony, individual and business taxation (multistate), estate/fiduciary accounting/taxation, nonprofit information returns, management consulting, litigation support/forensic accounting, compilations, reviews, and audits. Ms. Toth enhances her technical knowledge by active participation in NJCPA interest groups as well as performing Peer Reviews and inspections/engagement quality reviews for other CPA firms.

June is a NJ licensed CPA and received her CFF designation. She is also Certified Part 36 in NY. June is a frequent lecturer presenting on various topics to groups throughout NJ. She is a member of both the AICPA and NJCPA where she is active on various technical groups. Her clients include franchises, service and wholesale industries, multistate entities, nonprofits, estates/guardianships and litigation support/forensic accounting.

She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Rutgers University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
