Walter Brasch

Walter J. Brasch, CPA, CGMA, Partner & Chief Business Development Officer at O’Connor Davies, LLP, Cranford, joined the New Jersey Society of CPAs in 1977. He has served on the NJCPA Board of Trustees as a trustee, treasurer and secretary. He is a member of the NJCPA Finance, Strategic Planning, and Retirement Savings Plan committees and is an Education Foundation trustee. He was chair of the NJ-CPA-PAC. He has also served as president, vice president, secretary and director of the Monmouth/Ocean Chapter. Mr. Brasch is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Health Care Financial Management Association, a board member of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce and an associate member of the NJ Bankers Association. In his community, Mr. Brasch served as board chair of the Raritan Bay Medical Center, alumni association president of Christian Brothers Academy (CBA), and board member of the American Cancer Society and the Boy Scouts of America, Monmouth Council. He is a recipient of the CBA Alumnus of the Year Award and currently serves on the board of CBA. He also serves as an associate member of the Audit Committee of Monmouth University and a fundraising committee member for the Raritan Bay Health Care Foundation. Mr. Brasch earned his B.B.A. in accounting from St. Bonaventure University. He and his wife, Ann, reside in Little Silver and have a son, a daughter and three grandchildren.

John Raspante

John F. Raspante formally worked for North American Professional Liability Insurance Agency (“NAPLIA”) as SVP / Director of Risk Management. Prior to NAPLIA, John was the Director of Compliance and Risk Management as well as the Director of Education for Graf Repetti & Co. LLP, Certified Public Accountants & Business Advisors. John also worked nine years for CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company, of which he was responsible for providing loss prevention services to the organization’s largest insured’s.

John earned a BBA in accounting from Baruch College (CUNY) and a master’s degree in tax from Washington School of Law. He also holds the designation Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and multiple state accounting societies. He also serves on NYSSCPA’s Compilation and Review Committee, NJSCPA’s Editorial Board and the Accounting and Auditing interest group, and the National Conference of CPAs’ Ethics Committee. John is an in-demand speaker and has written several articles for the accounting profession on issues relating to risk management and professional ethics.

John’s responsibilities at CPA Protector Plan will include assisting insured's in minimizing professional liability exposures and claims mitigation by implementing a world class Risk Management Program, State Society and Association Endorsements and increasing gross written premium.

Philip J. Whitman is president and CEO of Whitman Business Advisors, LLC. Phil specializes in succession planning, mergers & acquisitions, strategic talent acquisition and practice management consulting.

With firm management experience ranging from three partners, twelve employees, and $2 million in annual revenues to one of the Top 30 CPA firms in the Nation, with 48 partners, 400 employees and almost $100 million in annual revenues, there’s nothing Phil hasn’t seen.

Prior to practice management, Phil spent nearly six years as a multi-unit owner-operator of a National restaurant franchise, which is where he began honing his knowledge of labor law, human resources management and organizational leadership. His accounting firm experience includes audit work at Price Waterhouse, and tax work at Spicer & Oppenheim.

Whitman has authored articles and has chaired numerous committees for the New York State Society of CPAs. He has been a featured speaker for various state societies of CPA, international CPA firm associations as well as a presenter for CCHs annual user conference. He has served as conference chair of the Foundation for Accounting Education’s Practice Management Conference and the CFOs, Controllers and Financial Executives Conference. For over 20 years he has advised firms across North America, working with top management in overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency & profitability.
