CPA Career Awareness Presentation Materials

Thank you for volunteering to be a CPA Career Awareness presenter! Below you will find everything you need to make your presentation.

Presentation Materials and Talking Points

We have a brand new presentation for students — designed with interactive elements, teenage jargon and pop culture to hold their attention and create a lasting impact.

Be sure to download and review the presentation materials well in advance so that we can help you work through any technical difficulties. Talking points are included within the PowerPoint notes section and you can also download them separately here. We encourage you to insert your own stories whenever possible and convey the talking points naturally rather than memorizing every detail.

PREPARATION TIPS

  • Call the school several days before the presentation to confirm the date and time and determine where you need to go once you arrive at the school, where to park, what technology will be available, etc.
  • If you are advised to use the teacher’s laptop to present, you may need to present the slides in Google Slides. Here is the Google Slides file.
  • If you are presenting from your laptop, download the presentation ahead of time to avoid any lags or glitches.
  • Run through the presentation slides many times to become familiar with the timing of the animations. Each animation plays upon clicking the right arrow or enter key.
  • Within the presentation, there is a place to focus on your story — your personal inspiration for becoming a CPA, career pathway, the work you perform and the rewards. The My Story slide is editable. Feel free to add your information to the slide.

PRESENTATION TIPS

  • Speak naturally and make the content engaging by adding your personal touch and experiences.
  • To effectively engage animations in the slides, play the presentation by clicking the Slide Show icon on the bottom right on your screen.
  • We encourage you to take photos of yourself in the classroom and send them our way for the NJCPA’s social media pages and other communications.
