Nicole M. DeRosa is a Tax Manager with WithumSmith+Brown, PC and has more than 12 years of public accounting experience, specializing in taxation for closely held businesses and individuals. In addition to working with clients in an array of industries, she was also an adjunct professor at Raritan Valley Community College where she taught Tax Accounting for Individuals for the past four years. Ms. DeRosa is a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and is active on the Content Advisory Board, Federal Taxation Interest Group, and Emerging Leaders Interest Group; she is a vice-chairperson of the Emerging Leaders Council. In 2015, she was awarded “30 Under 30” by the NJCPA, which recognizes young professionals who are making a name for themselves in the New Jersey accounting landscape. In 2019 she was awarded the “Women to Watch” Ovation Award, which applauds the growth and success of female members for their leadership, potential, contributions and commitment to fostering the success of their colleagues. In Nicole’s spare time, she teaches Zumba Fitness and is active in various charitable organizations, such as St. Jude's and the American Heart Association. Ms. DeRosa is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, with degrees in Accountancy and Master of Science in Accountancy.
Director of Examination Content
Richard Gallagher joined the AICPA Examinations team as Director of Content on December 1, 2014. Rich will be leading the Exam’s team of CPAs on the development and monitoring of the current Exam, as well as playing a key role in the Practice Analysis initiative, whose goal is to ensure that the next version of the CPA Exam assesses the knowledge and skills required of newly licensed CPAs.
Rich has worked as a CPA for over 35 years. He retired from Ernst & Young’s New York based National Professional Practice Group in June 2014. In this role, Rich supported engagement teams and their clients in resolving complex accounting and auditing issues. He also served as Engagement Quality Review Partner on many of EYs New York and New Jersey based clients. Prior to National Office, Rich was a client handling partner based in the firm’s MetroPark New Jersey office. Rich also has been a frequent instructor focusing on new accounting pronouncements, evolving audit matters and IFRS. Rich began his career in Arthur Young’s Newark office in 1976.
Rich attended Villanova University from 1972 through 1974 and graduated from St. Peter’s College in 1976. Rich also was an Adjunct Instructor in St. Peter’s Accountancy program in the 1980’s.
Jerry Maginnis spent 36 years with KPMG in Philadelphia, retiring on September 30, 2015. He served as the Managing Partner of the Firm’s Philadelphia Office from 2006 through 2015. Previously, he spent 5 years as the Partner in Charge of the Firm’s Audit practice in Pennsylvania, overseeing operations in KPMG’s Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh offices. Jerry is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University.
Since retiring from KPMG, Jerry has joined the Boards of Cohen & Steers Mutual Funds based in New York City. Cohen & Steers is a global investment manager specializing in liquid real assets. The twenty two Funds’ Assets under Management approximate $32 Billion as of October 31, 2017. He is also a Board Member of the Faith in the Future Foundation and the Foundations of both the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. Jerry continues to serve on the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission. Jerry also serves as an Executive in Residence at Rowan University in Southern New Jersey where he chairs the University’s Accounting Advisory Board.
Previously, Jerry served as the President of the 22,000 member Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, a member of the CEO Council for Growth, a member of the Board of Trustees of Gwynedd-Mercy University and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School and on the Boards of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Union League of Philadelphia.
Jerry received the Father of the Year award from the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Diabetes Association in 2009. In 2011, he received the Distinguished Public Service Award from the PICPA as well as the Breath of Life award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In 2015, he received the Heart of Philadelphia award from the American Heart Association and in 2017 he received the Medal of Excellence award from Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business. In 2018, Jerry received the Taoiseach Award for exceptional business leadership and compassion from the Irish American Business Chamber & Network of Philadelphia.
CEO & Executive Director
New Jersey Society of CPAs
Ralph is the CEO and executive director of the NJCPA - a post held since 1999. He was appointed by New Jersey Senate President Sweeney to the New Jersey Economic and Fiscal Policy Working Group in 2018. He was also previously appointed to the AICPA Foundation Board and the inaugural AICPA National Commission on Diversity and Inclusion. Ralph is a lifetime member and former national and chapter president of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), was appointed chair of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy’s (NASBA) State Society Relations Committee, and is a member of the accounting advisory boards of Lehigh, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Montclair State, Felician, Thomas Edison universities and Middlesex County College. He is also the treasurer of Opportunity NJ. Additionally, he was selected for the last seven years by Accounting Today as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.” Prior to joining NJCPA, he held various accounting-related management positions at Citibank, AT&T, Potomac Electric Power Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
