ROSELAND, N.J. – As the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season still has some more punches to throw, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) has published its updated Disaster Recovery Guide to assist individuals and businesses in New Jersey. The guide provides handy resources on what to do in the event crucial documents and identification are lost during any damage from natural disasters.
The NJCPA’s free Disaster Recovery Guide provides a list of state and federal agencies as well as up-to-date contact information for most major insurance agencies servicing New Jersey. The guide explains the necessary steps to take to avoid disaster recovery scams and how to safely replace documentation for autos, homes, mortgages or proof of marriage. It also outlines which IRS forms may provide further information.
“Natural disasters are unavoidable, but businesses and individuals in New Jersey should not feel helpless. Using resources, such as this guide, and contacting your CPA for advice should help ensure a smooth recovery in the event of a loss,” said Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, MA, IOM, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA.
The Disaster Recovery Guide is available online at njcpa.org/recovery or by contacting the NJCPA at 973-226-4494 or communications@njcpa.org.
