Economic cycles are the fluctuating state of an economy from periods of economic expansion and contraction. They are also sometimes referred to as business cycles or business fluctuations. As every person or business is a participant in the market-based economy, it follows that they have experienced one or more economic cycles, and the stages of each which are:
- Expansion.
- Peak.
- Contraction.
- Trough.
