James M. Cox is the director of state regulation and legislation at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In this role, he assists state CPA societies and state boards of accountancy on state-level policy issues impacting the accounting profession. Prior to joining the AICPA, James served as the director of state and local affairs for BOMA International, a commercial real estate trade association. Cox also launched the state government affairs program for Goodwill Industries International, tracked state tobacco policy for the National Conference of State Legislatures, and started his career as a policy analyst for the Florida House of Representatives. James received his Bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Florida State University and holds a Master’s of Jurisprudence from Seton Hall Law School.

Josh is Senior Manager – Research for the US Uniform CPA Examination, where he has served a variety of roles since 2007, all mainly focused on accounting skills and Exam research and development. His many roles include ensuring relevance of the examination through research into accounting trends, testing and psychometric innovations. This includes working with external accounting bodies and CPAs, developing and trying out new item types, talking with external psychometricians and testing bodies, and working with staff to think differently about accounting and assessment. He is the current Co-Chair of the Global Accounting Alliance Education Working Group. He is a CPA earning an MBA with a focus in Professional Accounting from Rutgers Business School, as well as B.A.s in Communication and Art history from Rutgers College.
