Student loan debt is a growing problem in the U.S. for most college graduates.
The NJCPA supports a bill that would mandate that New Jersey high school graduation requirements include instruction on tuition assistance programs and student loan debt. It would also require high school students to meet with their guidance counselor to discuss tuition assistance and dual enrollment.
The NJCPA also supports a bill that would permit cosigners to student loans under New Jersey College Loans to Assist State Students (NJCLASS) Loan Program to make payments on loans and allows gross income tax deduction for certain payments under NJCLASS Loan Program.
