Level Up is a four-day virtual and interactive event for students and recent graduates who are pursuing a career in accounting or finance to equip them with must-know information about how to make a lasting impression on future employers and maximize career opportunities.


Students and entry-level accounting professionals


Four workshops will present topics including interview dos and don’ts, resume and LinkedIn profile best practices, CPA Exam strategies, and exploring options in accounting career paths.

In addition to the workshops, there will also be group “Meet the Firm “sessions with CPA firm representatives from around New Jersey to learn more about their firms and their job opportunities. Be sure to sign up for both the workshops and CPA firm sessions. After you sign up, you will receive instructions for sending us your resume. Participating CPA firms will receive all attendee resumes.

Participants can choose to attend as many or few sessions that fit their interests and schedule.

Find Your Accounting Career Path: Tax, Audit, Advisory and Corporate Panel Discussion

Are you unsure of what direction you want to take in your accounting career? Hear from four panelists who will talk about their role in either tax, audit, advisory and corporate accounting. The panelists will explain what their day-to-day responsibilities are and the highs and lows of their chosen pathway.

Gain expert advice on creating a resume and LinkedIn profile to enhance your success in obtaining job interviews and positioning yourself for career advancement. Learn what parts of your resume employers value most and how to set yourself apart from competing job candidates. Also, explore ways to show your achievements in the best possible light.

She has spent her career working alongside business owners and managing partners carrying out firm missions, acquiring talent and providing coaching to executives, management and staff. Consulting engagements have consisted of organizational redesign of operations and infrastructure, personnel programming, senior talent acquisition, total benefit and rewards systems, policy and procedure manuals, and providing business development coaching training. Ian Luxenberg, CPA is a Senior Tax Analyst in the Tax Compliance COE at Johnson & Johnson based in Titusville, New Jersey. He started at Johnson & Johnson in 2015 as a Co-op in the Indirect Tax Compliance COE, and then continued into the Tax Leadership Development Program upon graduation. He has done rotations in both Tax Reporting and Global Transfer Pricing. In his current role, he supports both federal and state tax compliance for the Consumer sector portfolio which includes iconic brands like Tylenol, Neutrogena, Aveeno and Listerine. His responsibilities include federal tax filings, state tax filings, state quarterly tax estimates, state tax true ups, and co-lead of the Tax Intern/Co-op program. He graduated from Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick in 2017 with a B.S. in Accounting and Human Resource Management and became a licensed CPA in 2019. He is actively pursuing a Master of Accountancy in Taxation degree at Rutgers Business School- Newark and is expected to graduate later this year.

Kaitlin is currently a Staff Level II in the tax department at WithumSmith+Brown. She grew up in Nutley, NJ, and went to Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi, where she played basketball. After graduation, she went to The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Bronx, NY, to play basketball and lacrosse, spent her time volunteering with her school ministry, and worked on campus as a tutor. She interned with Withum for a busy season in January of 2019, and was hired after to start a full-time tax position that August. She graduated with her B.S. in Accounting and started her career in the East Brunswick office. Since then, she has dedicated her time to tax returns, with a focus primarily in Real Estate, although she works on a variety of return structures and industries. Kailtin has recently passed the CPA Exam and is in the process of getting her license.

Sarah had many years of experience in public accounting before transitioning over into Operations in 2012 for HFA. She oversees the day-to-day operations in administration, human capital, finance, technology, facilities and marketing. Sarah is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA). She serves on the Emerging Leaders Council and the Student Programs & Scholarships Committee and she is also a member of the Business & Industry Professionals Interest Group. Sarah is also the NJ Chapter President for CPAFMA - CPA Firm Management Association and was recently appointed to the National Board of Directors serving as the Director-At-Large. Sarah believes firmly in giving back to the community and is a Community Treasurer and Scout Leader for the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Sarah is also a member and the Past-Treasurer for the Junior League of Monmouth County, a vibrant group of over 300 women with diverse backgrounds committed to promotion voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Sarah is also a Fellow with LeadNJ, a highly select group of talented leaders who are making improvements around New Jersey, who lead as champions of their own most cherished ideas and values. Sarah graduated from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with dual B.S. degrees in Accounting and Finance.
